This is about a year in the making, give or take many screwups along the way.
Let's say not all undead dragons are intact enough for majestic flights of fancy. Some take it easy, a more leisurely pace to travelling around. They're dead, so what's the rush? Then somewhere somehow one of these rotting things was imspired by hot air balloons.
Thus came along Bloaties, floating undead dragons.
Like its flightier brethren, it requires fuel to stay afloat. While the former's sustained with vast amounts of necromantic magic, Bloaties require corpses that are broken down in its volatile guts to produce gas which provides lift, and with the aid of a rear vent, propel and guide itself along.
As such it's found following battles to pick at the fallen, its gas can be released as a chemical weapon to ward off pests that harass it, or found poking through graveyards. It can use live creatures like any slow-moving animals it managed to grab, but that'd take longer to stew than an already-rotting body.
Not much else, I don't really think up extended details on my creature features.
Could've done with a better color combination but sod it, I've used up too much time on it already.
I can't believe you haven't gotten any comments on this little monstrosity!? As always, I really enjoy the little things in life, the secondary mouth in the gut, for easy deposits, the wing configuration, into the balloons, and of course, the ingenious binding and structure that aids in the support of the undead critter. Very well thought out and I'm ok with the colors myself. It looks like bruises, bones and guts just fine. X3
